National Babe Ruth Day

On April 27th baseball fans around the country honor one of baseball’s all-time greatest players, his name is George Herman “Babe” Ruth. He is universally considered the greatest baseball player to ever play the game and one of the biggest characters in the entire era he was from. It’s National Babe Ruth Day. In April 1947, the most famous and, arguably, most beloved ballplayer of all-time was honored at Yankee Stadium on “Babe Ruth Day.” National Babe Ruth Day, an unofficial national holiday, has been recognized and celebrated since 1947. Ruth set new records for home runs and slugging percentages while playing for the New York Yankees. In 1927, he became the first player to hit 60 home runs in one season.

It is one of the offbeat and theme days of the month. Celebrating this day, recognizing offbeat theme days is a very simple way to bring a little fun and humor into our workplace at American Language Services. It is worth noting that apart from being in the theme of National Babe Ruth Day, April was a very busy month. Certainly, being an organization having over 30 years’ experience and expertise American Language Services have worked with many large corporations.

There is a great need for improved translation and cost savings for companies to get their message out. Companies can expand globally only as fast as they have the resources to support each new country or language. For many companies large and small, the time and money involved in the localization effort can be a prohibiting factor in choosing to expand. AML Global utilizes some of the most advanced technology in the system today including OCR technology, translation memory, and our proprietary AML 5.0 Portal system. Our technology along with our translation expertise help clients speed their message to the target audience and does so with cost savings. Some of the recent project includes providing services to the Institute of International Education to meet their English into Spanish and Portuguese translation need. Another one was working with Dole Food Company to meet their English to German, Spanish, and Italian translation need. Another AML-Global project has been to provide translation for an American based manufacturer, American Apparel.

In addition to written translation, American Language Services was also involved in several verbal Interpreting assignments. Our interpreters are native speakers who are highly skilled and experienced in their craft. In addition, they follow the Code of Ethics and understand confidentiality and impartiality. Our interpreters would never risk their reputation, which, incidentally, is also our reputation. Our interpreters are always polite, professional, and prepared – just like you. A job worth citing is the Mandarin and Japanese Interpreting project completed for Panasonic application refrigeration system. One larger, complicated project that was completed for a very well-known defense industry client, who shall be nameless. They needed Turkish interpreting and equipment for 10 days. The interpreting was for specialized training for military and homeland security related items. A large portion of the training took place outdoors in the Denver area. Thanks to our network of more than 10,000 specialized interpreters who are native speakers we were able to bring in 6 outstanding Turkish interpreters with military and security related experience.

American Language Services is a proud provider of translation, interpretation, transcription and media services to private industry, government at all levels, and educational and non-profit organizations. Our thousands of linguists around the world and teams of dedicated professionals are ready to serve.
