The New Year got off to a quick and exciting start for American Language Services. We were called on at home and around the world. We bridged communications between business and national leaders while also playing a part in helping countries in Europe prepare for emergencies and disasters.
Working with Louisiana State University, we will be in Bulgaria and Romania to deliver interpretation services for four major conferences on emergency and disaster preparedness. We’ll also be on the LSU campus in the U.S. to provide Turkish interpretation. Not only that, American Language Services translators will be translating documents for all five events.
Our work supports Louisiana State University’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training. The Center educates international law enforcement agencies on how to prepare for a biological event, terrorist attack or natural disaster. Another university, further east, also called on us for help.
Located in Washington, D.C. and one of the top universities in the nation, Georgetown University has worked with American Language Services for many years. This month, we were asked to translate a number of documents into African French. We’re proud of our partnerships with the educational community, which include such well-known institutions as Harvard, Yale and Stanford University.
Although our work with the universities in January is impressive, we also got a chance to help two former U.S. presidents and a modern-day business tycoon cross language barriers.
At the Cosmopolitan Hotel, one of Las Vegas’ newest and most lavish resorts, our French, Spanish and Mandarin interpreters simultaneously interpreted for former presidents Bush, Carter and businessman Donald Trump. The leaders were guest speakers at the Hearing Innovation Expo, a global event for independent hearing care professionals. Attendees learned about the latest innovations in hearing science and technology, patient care and business practices.
At the event, we also provided four interpreting booths, more than 200 headsets and well-trained technicians to ensure the equipment ran smoothly.
